Regular Season Round 3: Toyoda - Veertien Mie 71-60

The most surprising game was a loss of Veertien Mie (3-1) in Aichi on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Toyoda (1-3) 71-60. Toyoda outrebounded Veertien Mie 52-32 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American JD Weatherspoon (198-1992, college: Toledo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Ren Takemura (170-1995) helped adding 19 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) with 20 points and the other American import forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyoda is looking forward to face Tokyo HT (#12) at home in the next round. Veertien Mie will play against Okayama (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
