Al Salam can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Ittihad (2-3) 68-67. American forward Nick Stover (198-1993, college: USA) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import center Anthony McClain (211-1988, college: Cincinnati) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Stover is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tunisian point guard Omar Abada (189-1993) answered with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and the former international Mathna Almarwani (186-1992) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Al Ittihad. Four Al Ittihad players scored in double figures. Al Salam maintains ninth place with 1-4 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Al Ittihad at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Al Wehda and Duba Club. Al Salam will play against higher ranked Al Wehda (#6) in Mecca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al Ittihad will play at home against Al Hilal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
