Regular Season Round 1: Kyoto H. - Sendai 89ers 65-92

Kyoto H. used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Sendai 66-65 on Saturday night. Point guard Yoshiaki Kubota (175-1997) nailed 16 points and 5 assists for the winning side and Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) accounted for 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kyoto H. players scored in double figures. American forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Rashawn Thomas (203-1994, college: TAMUCC) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. Sendai 89ers' coach Hiroki Fujita tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kyoto H. will again meet at home Sendai 89ers in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round.
