Regular Season Round 11: Terrafirma Dyip - Ginebra Kings 82-106

Bottom-ranked Terrafirma Dyip (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 106-82 loss to third ranked Ginebra Kings (6-1) in Makati City. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Terrafirma Dyip's 48. Ginebra Kings players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Terrafirma Dyip's players. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Naturalized German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-1989, college: Hawaii) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Japeth Aguilar (206-1987, college: WKU) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Ginebra Kings players scored in double figures. Guard Juan Tiongson (178-1991) answered with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Swedish forward Philip Cahilig (191-1991) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Terrafirma Dyip. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ginebra Kings have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-1 record behind leader SM Beermen. Terrafirma Dyip at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Ginebra Kings will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Terrafirma Dyip will play on the road against Hotshots (#5) in Pasig City and hopes to get finally their first victory.
