Regular Season Round 60: Hitachi SRT - Hokkaido L. 101-73
Date: May 1, 2022
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Hokkaido L. (19-34) was outleveled by fifth ranked Hitachi SRT (32-24) in Tokyo 101-73 on Sunday. Hitachi SRT shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by international point guard Leo Vendrame (183-1993) who scored that evening 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Kosuke Ishii (182-1987) supported him with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Hitachi SRT players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 43 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds by American forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Hokkaido L.. His fellow American import center Daniel Miller (211-1991, college: Georgia Tech) added 7 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hitachi SRT have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 32-24 record. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 34 games lost. Hitachi SRT will meet higher ranked Chiba Jets (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hokkaido L. will play against Toyama G. (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
