Fourth-ranked Koshigaya A. (25-22) gave a tough game to third ranked Nishinomiya S. (34-18) in Tokyo on Wednesday. The visitors from Hyogo managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected easier game. Nishinomiya S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward DeQuan Jones (203-1990, college: Miami, FL) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-1987, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Four Nishinomiya S. players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Craig Brackins (208-1987, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Cherif Sow (201-1992) scored 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nishinomiya S. moved-up to second place. Koshigaya A. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 22 games lost. Nishinomiya S. are looking forward to face Kagawa FA (#3) in Takamatsu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Koshigaya A. will have a break next round.
