There was an upset when higher ranked Akita NH (27-23) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Ibaraki R. (15-34) 84-78 on Wednesday. Ibaraki R. made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Strangely Akita NH outrebounded Ibaraki R. 51-37 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Jordan Glynn (200-1989, college: SF Austin) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 18 rebounds and forward Alex Davis (206-1992, college: Fresno St.) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akita NH's coach Kenzo Maeda tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. maintains tenth position with 15-34 record. Akita NH lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 23 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet higher ranked Yokohama BC (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Akita NH will play against Kyoto H. and hope to secure a win.
