There was a minor upset in Mito where 7th ranked Gunma CT (19-27) was defeated by tenth ranked Ibaraki R. (14-32) 96-78 on Wednesday. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) fired a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 17-of-22 shooting from the field) for the winners. His fellow American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Czech center Ondrej Balvin (217-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American power forward Justin Keenan (202-1989, college: Ferris St.) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gunma CT's coach Thomas Wisman rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. maintains tenth place with 14-32 record. Gunma CT lost their third game in a row. Gunma CT at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh position with 27 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet higher ranked Hokkaido L. (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gunma CT will play against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
