Regular Season Round 58: Sendai 89ers - Fukushima 82-61
Date: April 17, 2022
The game between Top Four teams took place in Sendai. Second ranked host Sendai 89ers (32-15) smashed one of their biggest challengers Fukushima (31-17) 82-61. Sendai 89ers players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import center Jerome Meyinsse (208-1988, college: Virginia) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-1990, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Fukushima. American-Finnish forward Alex Murphy (206-1993, college: Northeastern) added 10 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sendai 89ers maintains second position with 32-15 record having six points less than leader Kumamoto V. Fukushima at the other side keeps the third place with 17 games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fukushima will play at home against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
