Toyota rallied past Chanson in the opener. Toyota A. dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Chanson V-M's 24 and made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Chanson V-M 52-34 including a 27-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Toyota A. players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Stephanie Mawuli (182-1998) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-1995) contributed with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Toyota A.'s coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Kuke Haruka (166-1995) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and center Sakura Noguchi (181-2001) added 15 points in the effort for Chanson V-M.
