Regular Season Round 49: Kagoshima - Gifu 85-81

Everything went according to plan in Renova where third ranked Kagoshima (30-9) won against 10th ranked Gifu (17-27) 85-81 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Kagoshima looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Christian Cunningham (201-1997, college: JSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) chipped in 19 points. Kagoshima's coach Predrag Krunic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side center Jayce Johnson (213-1997, college: Marquette) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Four Gifu players scored in double figures. Kagoshima maintains third place with 30-9 record having eight points less than leader Nagasaki. Loser Gifu keeps the tenth position with 27 games lost. Kagoshima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gifu will play against Toyoda (#13) in Aichi and hope to secure a win.
