Regular Season Round 19: Beirut Club - Homentmen 123-56

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Beirut Club as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Beirut Club smashed 9th ranked Homentmen at home 123-56. Beirut Club shot 62.5 percent from the field and made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Beirut Club forced 22 Homentmen turnovers and outrebounded them 34-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. Beirut Club looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Homentmen's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Sergio El Darwich (193-1996, college: Maine) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Gerard Hadidian (201-1995, college: Lake Land) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Beirut Club players scored in double figures. Serouj Avedissian answered with 27 points and Daniel Baghdadian added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Homentmen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Beirut Club (13-2) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Sagesse. Homentmen at the other side keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Homentmen will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Beirut Club will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Sagesse. It will be extra interesting game as Sagesse is their local rival from Beirut.
