We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Hokkaido L. (13-25) lost to tenth ranked Ibaraki R. (12-28) in Saporro 82-94 on Wednesday. Ibaraki R. made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American players dominated the game. Forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) nailed 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) accounted for 17 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Shawn Long (208-1993, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds and DeMon Brooks (202-1992, college: Davidson) added 18 points and 6 assists respectively for Hokkaido L. in the defeat. Five Ibaraki R. and four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Ibaraki R. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. maintains tenth place with 12-28 record. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the ninth position with 25 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet at home higher ranked Hitachi SRT (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hokkaido L. will play against Akita NH and hope to secure a win.
