Regular Season Round 46: Shinagawa - Nagasaki 71-105
Date: March 20, 2022
There was no surprise when 14th ranked Shinagawa (4-36) was crushed at home by first ranked Nagasaki (33-3) 105-71 on Sunday. Nagasaki dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 32. Nagasaki had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-1991, college: USA, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center C.J. Gettys (213-1994, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian-Canadian forward Aleks Mitrovic (198-1988) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Nagasaki have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains first position with 33-3 record. Shinagawa at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth place with 36 games lost. Nagasaki will meet at home bottom-ranked Kanazawa (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Shinagawa will play against Yokohama EX in Tokyo and hope to secure a win.
