Regular Season Round 47: Sendai 89ers - Nishinomiya S. 68-70

The most exciting game of round 47 in the B2 League took place in Sendai. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Sendai 89ers (27-13) to first ranked Nishinomiya S. (26-12) 70-68 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American forward DeQuan Jones (203-1990, college: Miami, FL) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-1986) contributed with 21 points for the winners. American forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import center Jerome Meyinsse (208-1988, college: Virginia) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Nishinomiya S. maintains first place with 26-12 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the second position with 13 games lost. They share it with Fukushima. Nishinomiya S. are looking forward to face league's leader FE Nagoya at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sendai 89ers will play against Koshigaya A. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
