Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Yamaguchi (11-29) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Gifu (15-23) 93-81. Gifu outrebounded Yamaguchi 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Jayce Johnson (213-1997, college: Marquette) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Robert Sampson (203-1992, college: Georgia Tech) came up with 25 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Yuki Ide (178-1996) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Yamaguchi in the defeat. Five Gifu and four Yamaguchi players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gifu. They maintain tenth place with 15-23 record. Yamaguchi lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 29 games lost. Gifu will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yamaguchi will play on the road against Yokohama EX (#11) in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
