Regular Season Round 43: Shizuoka - Yamaguchi 102-79

Very expected game when 12th ranked Yamaguchi (11-27) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Shizuoka (23-9) 102-79 on Sunday. Shizuoka outrebounded Yamaguchi 52-31 including a 19-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American center Ryan Stephan (208-1994, college: CMU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Robert Sampson (203-1992, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and point guard Yuki Ide (178-1996) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shizuoka have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 23-9 record. Yamaguchi lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 27 games lost. Shizuoka are looking forward to face league's leader Nagasaki on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamaguchi will play against Gifu (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
