Not a big story in a game in Sichuan where 16th ranked Blue Whales (9-22) were outplayed by fourth ranked Guangsha Lions (24-7) 110-80 on Sunday. Guangsha Lions made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Guangsha Lions outrebounded Blue Whales 42-19 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a great evening for the former international guard Minghui Sun (187-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 8 assists. Hungarian-American power forward Jarrod Jones (207-1990, college: Ball St.) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Keqi Li (187-1995) responded with 21 points and 6 assists and forward Songwei Zhu (206-1996) scored 10 points and 9 assists. Four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Guangsha Lions. They maintain fourth place with 24-7 record. Blue Whales lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 22 games lost. Guangsha Lions' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Hangzhou Golden Bulls.
