Regular Season Round 40: Chiba - Tokyo HT 92-51
Date: February 26, 2022
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Tokyo HT (17-14) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Chiba (25-4) 92-51 on Saturday. Chiba outrebounded Tokyo HT 47-28 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Chiba looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Tokyo HT's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-1989, college: St.Mary's, TX) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 18 rebounds (perfect from the field making all twelve shots !!!) and the other American import forward Robert Dozier (206-1985, college: Memphis) who added 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American power forward John Fields (205-1988, college: Tennessee, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 6 points and 11 rebounds and Senegalese forward Bamba Diouf (198-1993) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chiba have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Chiba maintains third position with 25-4 record having eleven points less than leader Nagasaki. Loser Tokyo HT keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. Chiba are again looking forward to face Tokyo HT (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Tokyo HT will have a break next round.
