There was an upset in Quezon where higher ranked Phoenix (4-4) was defeated by tenth ranked North Port (3-5) 101-93 on Saturday. North Port outrebounded Phoenix 52-41 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Jamel Artis (201-1993, college: Pittsburgh) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Jamie Orme (201, college: Portland St.) helped adding 13 points and 16 rebounds. American swingman Dominique Sutton (198-1986, college: NCCU) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized Canadian guard Matthew Wright (193-1991, college: St.Bonaventure) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five North Port and four Phoenix players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. North Port have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place. Phoenix lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Ginebra Kings and TNT Ka Tropa. North Port will meet at home bottom-ranked Blackwater Elite (#12) in the next round. Phoenix will have a break next round.
