Regular Season Round 39: Gifu - Okayama 73-89

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Okayama (20-10) beat on the road 11th ranked Gifu (11-23) 89-73. Gifu was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Makoto Higuchi (177-1992) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Chris Olivier (202-1992, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 23 points and 7 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American center Jayce Johnson (213-1997, college: Marquette) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Alex Floresca (203-1996, college: San Diego) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okayama maintains fifth place with 20-10 record. Gifu lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 23 games lost. They share it with Yamaguchi. Okayama will play against league's leader Nagasaki at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gifu will play against the league's second-placed Iwate (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
