Regular Season Round 41: Fukushima - Yamagata 93-69

The game between second ranked Fukushima (27-11) and 5th ranked Yamagata (15-21) in Fukushima on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Fukushima outscored guests from Yamagata 93-69. Fukushima dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Yamagata's 40. They outrebounded Yamagata 38-26 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fukushima looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-1990, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) nailed 20 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winning side and Finnish-American power forward Erik Murphy (208-1990, college: Florida) accounted for 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. American forward Jawad Williams (204-1983, college: UNC) came up with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Yamagata in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fukushima maintains second place with 27-11 record having two points less than leader Kagawa FA. Yamagata lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Fukuoka R.. Fukushima will meet league's leader FE Nagoya on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yamagata will play against Koshigaya A. (#4) in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
