Leader Nagasaki recorded the 31th victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Saitama (19-13) 95-76. Nagasaki looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's, agency: Duran International) scored 26 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-1980, college: Otterbein) chipped in 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Nagasaki players scored in double figures. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (196-1992, college: Vermont) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nagasaki have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains first position with 31-3 record. Loser Saitama keeps the sixth place with 13 games lost. Nagasaki will again meet at home Saitama (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Saitama will have a break next round.
