Regular Season Round 26: Al Sadd - Al Wakrah 89-88

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Al Wakrah (9-3) in Doha on Monday night. Visitors were edged by third ranked Al Sadd (8-3) 89-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Wakrah. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Al Sadd dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Al Wakrah's 30. American guard Byron Ashe (186-95, college: Longwood) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Babacar Dieng (197-97) chipped in 29 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Al Sadd players scored in double figures. American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-91, college: Hawaii) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import Julius Coles Jr (193-89, college: Canisius) scored 31 points and 6 assists. Al Sadd moved-up to second place. Al Wakrah at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
