The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Wakrah as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Al Wakrah smashed 8th ranked Qatar Club at home 77-55. They outrebounded Qatar Club 50-39 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Wakrah looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American Julius Coles Jr (193-89, college: Canisius) who scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The other American import swingman Brandon Spearman (191-91, college: Hawaii) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Al Wakrah's coach Ihab Galal felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Senegalese center Oumar Seck (208-88) produced 9 points and 16 rebounds and forward Abdel Diop added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Qatar Club at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
