Regular Season Round 34: Sendai 89ers - Yamagata 74-67

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Sendai 89ers (22-12) beat at home 5th ranked Yamagata (15-17) 74-67 on Sunday. Sendai 89ers made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Yamagata 41-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for center Jerome Meyinsse (208-88, college: Virginia) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Center Kenny Lawson (207-88, college: Creighton) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and forward Jawad Williams (204-83, college: UNC) added 13 points in the effort for Yamagata. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sendai 89ers maintains third position with 22-12 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Kagawa FA. Yamagata lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Fukuoka R.. Sendai 89ers are looking forward to face Aomori W. (#7) at home in the next round.
