Regular Season Round 32: Okayama - Shinagawa 105-65
Date: January 29, 2022
Very expected game when 14th ranked Shinagawa (2-27) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Okayama (17-8) 105-65 on Saturday. Okayama dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 40. Okayama forced 24 Shinagawa turnovers and had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Shinagawa's players. The winners were led by American forward Chris Olivier (202-92, college: OK State, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored that evening 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Senegalese power forward Andre Sambou (203-99) supported him with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Okayama players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by forward Abu Philip (198-97) did not help to save the game for Shinagawa. Point guard Kunitatsu Ogata (179-97) added 10 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okayama moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Shizuoka. Shinagawa lost twenty third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 27 games lost. Okayama will again meet at home Shinagawa (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Shinagawa will have a break next round.
