Regular Season Round 31: Sichuan BW - Guangdong ST 76-110

Everything went according to plan in Sichuan where fifth ranked Guandong Tigers (20-7) outleveled 15th ranked Blue Whales (8-19) 110-76 on Wednesday. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 34. They outrebounded Blue Whales 48-37 including 42 on the defensive glass. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Mingxuan Hu (191-98) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American Ricky Ledo (201-92, college: Providence) helped adding 21 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. At the losing side Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85, agency: BIG) responded with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and Chen Chen (200-85) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Guandong Tigers and four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guangsha L. Blue Whales lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Qingdao E.. Guandong Tigers will meet at home league's second-placed Sharks in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Blue Whales will play against Jiangsu Dragons (#18) and hope to secure a win.
