Regular Season Round 31: Gunma CT - Ibaraki R. 84-91

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Gunma CT (11-17) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Ibaraki R. (6-23) 91-84 on Wednesday. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) helped adding 22 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Justin Keenan (202-89, college: Ferris St.) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Ibaraki R. and five Gunma CT players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. maintains tenth place with 6-23 record. Gunma CT lost their fifth game in a row. Gunma CT at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with 17 games lost. Ibaraki R. will meet Niigata A. (#11) on the road in the next round. Gunma CT will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
