Regular Season Round 29: Iwate - Shinagawa 83-64

Very expected game when 14th ranked Shinagawa (2-26) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Iwate (18-10) 83-64 on Sunday. Iwate dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Shinagawa's 30. Iwate forced 23 Shinagawa turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Iwate especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Kyle Richardson (200-91, college: Portland St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. DR Congolese center Kalongi Patrick (206-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Abu Philip (198-97) answered with 7 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Kunitatsu Ogata (179-97) added 11 points in the effort for Shinagawa. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate moved-up to fourth place. Shinagawa lost twenty second consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 26 games lost. Iwate are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Kanazawa (#15) in Ishikawa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shinagawa will have a break next round.
