An interesting game took place in Urumqi where 13th ranked Flying Tigers (8-15) were upset on its own court by sixteenth ranked Blue Whales (7-16) 102-97 on Sunday. Blue Whales made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Songwei Zhu (206-96) chipped in 31 points. Four Blue Whales players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Arnett Moultrie (208-90, college: MSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and the former international Abudurexiti Abudushalamu (203-96) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Flying Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Blue Whales maintains sixteenth place with 7-16 record. Loser Flying Tigers keep the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Tianjin and Qingdao E.. Blue Whales will meet at home higher ranked Eagles (#15) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flying Tigers will play against Heroes in Jinan and hope to secure a win.
