Regular Season Round 28: Saitama - Yamaguchi 95-83

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Yamaguchi (8-20) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Saitama (16-10) 95-83 on Saturday. Saitama outrebounded Yamaguchi 46-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Center Will Creekmore (205-89, college: Missouri St.) fired 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Ryan Watkins (206-91, college: Boise St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks and center Nicholas Evans (210-88, college: S.Indiana) added 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Saitama moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Yamaguchi keeps the twelfth position with 20 games lost. Saitama are again looking forward to face Yamaguchi (#12) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Yamaguchi will have a break next round.
