An exciting game was played in Gorgan. Gorgan faced Exxon SC. Host Gorgan smashed guests from Teheran 88-61. Gorgan dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Exxon SC's 22. Gorgan forced 21 Exxon SC turnovers and outrebounded them 37-19 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American Christopher Evans (203-91, college: Kent St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international Rasoul Mozafari (188-94) chipped in 4 points and 11 assists. Four Gorgan players scored in double figures. At the losing side Ali Kashani (186-0) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Pooya Haghi scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gorgan will meet Kouchin in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Exxon SC will play against Rafsanjan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
