Rather expected game when 20th ranked Monkey Kings (1-19) were smashed by seventeenth ranked Sturgeons (5-15) in Jiangsu 130-98 on Saturday. Sturgeons made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Monkey Kings turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists comparing to just 24 passes made by Monkey Kings' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sturgeons made 9 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Trae Golden (189-91, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 12 assists. Swingman Jianghuai Li (190-92) accounted for 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Five Sturgeons players scored in double figures. Center Baiqing Zhao (204-98) came up with 40 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and American swingman DMontre Edwards (199-92, college: Tennessee) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Monkey Kings in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sturgeons moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Sichuan BW. Monkey Kings lost their seventeenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Sturgeons will meet higher ranked Loongs (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Monkey Kings will play against Guandong Tigers (#5) in Dongguan and hope to win that game.
