Regular Season Round 26: Ibaraki R. - Alvark Tokyo 74-87

Very expected game when 10th ranked Ibaraki R. (5-21) lost to third ranked Alvark Tokyo (19-7) in Mito 74-87 on Monday. Alvark Tokyo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ibaraki R.'s 38. They outrebounded Ibaraki R. 39-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. Alvark Tokyo looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Spanish forward Sebastian Saiz (205-94, college: Ole Miss) notched a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) supported him with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Even 21 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) did not help to save the game for Ibaraki R.. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Alvark Tokyo have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 19-7 record behind leader Ryukyu GK. Ibaraki R. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with 21 games lost. Alvark Tokyo will meet Yokohama BC (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Ibaraki R. will play against the league's second-placed Nagoya DD and hope to secure a win.
