Regular Season Round 19: Fujian S. - Nanjing TX MK 118-94
Date: January 1, 2022
Rather predictable result when seventeenth ranked Sturgeons (4-13) rolled over bottom-ranked Monkey Kings (1-16) in Jinjiang 118-94 on Saturday. Sturgeons made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Monkey Kings turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Trae Golden (189-91, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Network Sports International) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 51 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 steals (made all of his fifteen free throws !!!). The former international Linjian Chen (197-93) accounted for 30 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. American swingman DMontre Edwards (199-92, college: Tennessee) came up with 23 points and 8 rebounds and forward Rongxiao Sun (200-95) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Monkey Kings in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sturgeons maintains seventeenth place with 4-13 record. Monkey Kings lost their fourteenth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 16 games lost. Sturgeons will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Monkey Kings will play against Guandong Tigers (#7) and hope to win that game.
