The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Toyama G.'s (8-15) home loss to seventh ranked Gunma CT (11-12) 90-95 on Sunday. Gunma CT looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-90, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. International guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: UC Merced) helped adding 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Zimbabwean-American forward Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Gunma CT and four Toyama G. players scored in double figures. Toyama G.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Gunma CT maintains seventh place with 11-12 record. Loser Toyama G. dropped to the ninth position with 15 games lost. Gunma CT will meet Hokkaido L. (#8) in the next round. Toyama G. will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets and will have a slim chance for a victory.
