Regular Season Round 23: Akita NH - Hiroshima D. 72-77

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Akita NH (14-9) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Hiroshima D. (14-9) 77-72 on Sunday. Hiroshima D. forced 19 Akita NH turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Hiroshima D. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. It was a great evening for Venezuelan center Gregory Echenique (206-90, college: Creighton, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) helped adding 13 points and 5 assists. Five Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. Guinea-Bissau-American center Colton Iverson (212-89, college: Colorado St., agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) scored 18 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hiroshima D. moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Akita NH. Hiroshima D. will meet at home Shiga L-Stars (#8) in the next round. Akita NH will play against Hitachi SRT (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
