Regular Season Round 4: Fubon Braves - Lioneers 92-82
Date: December 25, 2021
The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Fubon Braves as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Kings) loss. Fubon Braves defeated much higher ranked Lioneers in Taipei 92-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lioneers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The winners were led by Vincentian forward Brendon Smart (198-95) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and American forward Michael Singletary (198-88, college: Texas Tech) supported him with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Singletary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 22 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals by American Nick Faust (198-93, college: LBSU) did not help to save the game for Lioneers. Indian-Canadian center Sim Bhullar (226-92, college: NM State) added 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Lioneers. Lioneers will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Fubon Braves will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Kings. It will be extra interesting game as Kings is their local rival from Taipei.
