Regular Season Round 24: Fukushima - Nishinomiya S. 88-71

There was a minor upset when their close opponent Nishinomiya S. (13-11) was defeated on the road by second ranked Fukushima (16-8) 88-71 on Saturday. Fukushima made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Nishinomiya S.'s players. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Bulgarian center Jason Washburn (213-90, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds and American-Finnish forward Alex Murphy (206-93, college: Northeastern) who added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Senegalese center Cheikh Mbodj (208-87, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and American Shaquille Hines (203-93, college: UTRGV) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fukushima maintains second position with 16-8 record having four points less than leader Kagawa FA, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Loser Nishinomiya S. keeps the second place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Kumamoto V. and Yamagata. Fukushima will again meet at home league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nishinomiya S. will have a break next round.
