Regular Season Round 22: Shinshu BW - Ibaraki R. 67-79

There was a minor upset in Nagano where 7th ranked Shinshu BW (9-13) was defeated by tenth ranked Ibaraki R. (4-18) 79-67 on Saturday. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ibaraki R. made 7 blocks. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks during the contest. Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Ko Kumagai (173-96) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Ibaraki R. maintains tenth position with 4-18 record. Shinshu BW lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Ibaraki R. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shinshu BW will play again against Ibaraki R. (#10) and hope to secure a win.
