Regular Season Round 5: Rain or Shine - Hotshots 98-109

An interesting game was played in Manila where Hotshots (#7) won against host Rain or Shine (#4) 109-98 on Sunday evening. Hotshots dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Rain or Shine's 36 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hotshots made 12 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Jiovani Jalalon (175-92) who added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Henry Walker (198-87, college: Kansas St.) responded with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Rey Nambatac (179-94) scored 23 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hotshots (2-0) moved-up to third place. Loser Rain or Shine dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Alaska Aces and SM Beermen. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
