Regular Season Round 21: Gifu - Kagoshima 70-84

10th ranked Gifu (7-15) was defeated at home by third ranked Kagoshima (15-5) with the biggest margin this round 84-70. Kagoshima dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Gifu's 42. Kagoshima forced 19 Gifu turnovers. Strangely Gifu outrebounded Kagoshima 48-32 including 21 on the offensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: LCU) nailed 28 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: JSU) accounted for 17 points and 12 rebounds. Kagoshima's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Center Jayce Johnson (213-97, college: Marquette) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 25 rebounds and forward Jerrell Wright (204-91, college: La Salle) added 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gifu in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kagoshima. They maintain third place with 15-5 record having four points less than leader Nagasaki, which they share with Shizuoka. Gifu lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Kagoshima will play against Saitama (#7) at home in the next round. Gifu will play against Toyoda and hopes to get back on the winning track.
