Phoenix (2-1) recorded its first loss in Quezon on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by top-ranked Ginebra Kings (3-0) 125-121. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Phoenix. It was a key game for the second position in the league. They outrebounded Phoenix 52-41 including 18 on the offensive glass. Ginebra Kings looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. 31 personal fouls committed by Phoenix helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Phoenix's coach Louie Alas tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Ginebra Kings have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 3-0 record behind leader NLEX RW. Phoenix at the other side dropped to the fourth place with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
