Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Kyoto H. (3-18) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Hokkaido L. (10-11) 85-81 on Sunday. Hokkaido L. outrebounded Kyoto H. 38-27 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Shawn Long (208-93, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import DeMon Brooks (202-92, college: Davidson) chipped in 5 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: SDJ Sports) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Tatsuya Suzuki (169-91) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hokkaido L. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Gunma CT. Kyoto H. at the other side keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with San-en NP and Ibaraki R.. Hokkaido L. will meet at home higher ranked Alvark Tokyo (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kyoto H. will play against Nagoya DD (#3) and hope to secure a win.
