Regular Season Round 21: Toyoda - Shizuoka 87-95

Very expected game in Aichi where 13th ranked Toyoda (3-17) was defeated by fourth ranked Shizuoka (15-5) 95-87. Strangely Toyoda outrebounded Shizuoka 48-33 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Toyoda was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-88, agency: Interperformances) nailed 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) accounted for 20 points and 9 rebounds. Elsener is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American center CJ Gettys (213-94, college: Rutgers, agency: Haylett Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Hiroki Higashi (185-95) added 29 points respectively for Toyoda in the defeat. Five Shizuoka and four Toyoda players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shizuoka moved-up to third place, which they share with Kagoshima. Toyoda lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Shizuoka will play against Iwate (#5) at home in the next round. Toyoda will play against Gifu (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
