Regular Season Round 4: Terrafirma Dyip - NLEX RW 86-116

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Makati City: NLEX RW (#1) and Terrafirma Dyip (#8). Terrafirma Dyip was crushed at home by 30 points 86-116 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. NLEX RW dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Terrafirma Dyip's 48 and made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Terrafirma Dyip 57-43 including a 42-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. NLEX RW players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman KJ McDaniels (198-93, college: Clemson) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Point guard Kevin Alas (183-91) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. Four NLEX RW players scored in double figures. American forward Antonio Hester (199-90, college: Mobile, AL) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and guard Juan Tiongson (178-91) added 15 points respectively for Terrafirma Dyip in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. NLEX RW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Terrafirma Dyip's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Makati City NLEX RW.
