Regular Season Round 12: Abha - Al Nasr 49-96
Date: December 17, 2021
Bottom-ranked Abha (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-49 loss to second ranked Al Nasr (10-2) in Abha. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Abha's players. It was a good game for the former international guard Khalid Abdel-Gabar (188-90, college: Windsor) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Musab Kadi (-99) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Al Nasr's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mostaf Khan replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and Tunisian Hamza Aiouz (-89) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Abha. Defending champion maintains second position with 10-2 record having 2 victories less than leader Al Hilal, which they share with Ohod. Newly promoted Abha still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Al Nasr will play against Al Wehda (#5) in Mecca in the next round. Abha will play at home against the league's leader Al Hilal (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
