Regular Season Round 19: Chiba - Yamaguchi 90-67
Date: December 12, 2021
There was no surprise when 11th ranked Yamaguchi (6-12) was crushed on the road by second ranked Chiba (16-2) 90-67. Chiba outrebounded Yamaguchi 42-24 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Evan Ravenel (204-89, college: Ohio St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Center Nicholas Evans (210-88, college: S.Indiana) answered with 23 points and forward Robert Sampson (203-92, college: Georgia Tech) added 9 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Yamaguchi. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chiba have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Chiba maintains second place with 16-2 record behind leader Nagasaki. Yamaguchi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Chiba will play against Yokohama EX (#12) in Tokyo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yamaguchi will play at home against the league's leader Nagasaki and hopes to get back on the winning track.
