Regular Season Round 18: Shizuoka - Kagoshima 79-83
Date: December 11, 2021
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Kagoshima (12-5) beat on the road one of their biggest challengers Shizuoka (13-4) 83-79 on Saturday. Kagoshima forced 26 Shizuoka turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Christian Cunningham (201-97, college: JSU) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The other American import swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-93, college: LCU) chipped in 21 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-88, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 28 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-96, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) added 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kagoshima maintains fifth position with 12-5 record. Loser Shizuoka keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Kagoshima will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shizuoka will play again against Kagoshima (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
